Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • 5 centimetre or 2 inch scoop
  • baking parchment
  • large mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 200 g rice krispies
  • 8 drops orange food colouring
  • 6 twiglets
  • 125 g mini white marshmallows
  • 60 g butter

Instructions

  • Put the butter and marshmallows in a saucepan. Place over a low heat and stir until melted.
  • Add the food colouring, one drop at a time. Stir and keep adding the colouring until you get a rich orange colour.
  • Add the rice krispies to the mixing bowl and pour over the orange mixture. Stir to fully coat the krispies.
  • Gather a heaped scoopful of the mixture and use your hands to compress the mixture into a ball. Lightly oil your hands to prevent sticking if required.
  • Break each twiglet in half and push a piece into the middle for a stalk.
  • At this point, the mixture will start to break apart so compress again and slightly flatten into a pumpkin shape.
  • Place on a tray lined with baking parchment to prevent sticking.
  • Repeat the process to make 12 pumpkin rice krispie treats in total.
